The first edition of the Rally of Monza dates back to 1978 when the Circuit Organizers decided to open the doors of the legendary circuit also to rally cars.
The Rally of Monza comes with the image of an "hybrid" race although in fact the first few editions had a lot of real rally races with special stages held on dirt paths cut into the inner areas of the circuit.
Later it became necessary to compete solely on the paved road of the circuit but thanks to its new and original configuration, the Rally of Monza has counted among its protagonists not only the most important world rally champions, but Formula 1 and MotoGP drivers.
In recent years the event has gradually transformed from a simple rally race in a big media event and has changed its name in "Monza Rally Show."
