This weekend, the Autodromo Nazionale Monza will host the fourth of eight rounds of the Eurocup-3.<\/strong> It is a developmental racing series, open to drivers aged 16 and up. The cars are single-seaters with Italian-made engines and chassis: the chassis is built by Tatuus<\/strong>, and the engine is a 1.75-liter, 4-cylinder Alfa Romeo<\/strong> producing 275 hp, with an additional 25 hp boost available via the push-to-pass button.<\/p>\n

There are 33 drivers<\/strong> entered, including two Italians: 18-year-old Valerio Rinicella from Rome, and 16-year-old Mattia Colnaghi, an Italo-Argentinian who was born in Monza. Among the field is also a “racing son”, Austrian Oscar Wurz, and the son of two-time F1 World Champion Emerson Fittipaldi, who shares his famous grandfather\u2019s name. Also competing is Swede Emil Hellberg, the 2023 Italian Sports Prototypes champion.<\/p>\n

In the championship standings, Colnaghi \u2014 a rookie who won the Spanish F4 title last year \u2014 is second with 99 points, just behind Poland\u2019s Kacper Sztuka (104 points), who is tied with Mexican driver Ernesto Rivera. Rinicella is fourth with 90 points.<\/p>\n

In addition to Eurocup-3, Monza will also host the third round of the Boss GP<\/strong> series (33 cars, including former Formula 1, Formula 2, IndyCar, World Series by Renault, and A1 GP vehicles), the fourth round of the Lotus Cup Italia<\/strong> (18, cars, featuring well-known influencer Alberto Naska, currently second in the standings), as well as races for the Legend Car <\/strong>(36), XGT <\/strong>(13),<\/strong> and Supersport GT <\/strong>(14) categories.<\/p>\n

The schedule includes free practice for all categories on Friday, July 4 from 9:00 AM to 4:20 PM; qualifying and the first races for each category (two for XGT) on Saturday, July 5 from 9:00 AM to 4:20 PM. Eurocup-3 Race 1 is set for 2:10 PM (30 minutes plus one lap). On Sunday, July 6, from 9:00 AM to 3:50 PM, there will be Eurocup-3 Qualifying 2, the second races for all categories (including Eurocup-3, starting at 1:40 PM, 30 minutes plus one lap), and Races 3 and 4 for XGT.<\/p>\n
