BUSY PIT LANE DURING AUTOGRAPH SESSION WITH THE 176 STARS OF THE GT WORLD CHALLENGE BY AWS, AHEAD OF TOMORROW’S 3-HOUR RACE AT MONZA

The pit lane came alive during the autograph session with all 176 drivers competing in the GT World Challenge powered by AWS, who will go head-to-head tomorrow in the highly anticipated three-hour race at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza. Saturday, meanwhile, featured the opening races of both the Lamborghini Super Trofeo and the McLaren Trophy Europe, offering fans an exciting preview of what’s to come.

In the Lamborghini one-make series, organized by the manufacturer from Sant’Agata Bolognese, the victory went to Stephan Guerin and Georgi Dimitrov (CMR), ahead of the pairing of Enzo Geraci and Josef Knopp (Oregon Team), with third place taken by the HC by DL Racing car driven by Diego Locanto and Luca Segu. The race ended under red flag conditions following a collision that prematurely brought proceedings to a halt.

In the McLaren one-make series, it was a dominant performance by Greystone GT, securing a one-two finish. Joshua Mason and Sam Naser took the win, followed closely by Jayden Kelly and Michael O’Brian, while third place went to Samuel Harrison and Leonidas Karavasili of ALM Motorsport.

The GT World Challenge pre-qualifying session also took place, with the fastest time of the day—1’46.003—recorded by the Mercedes-AMG GetSpeed crew, driven by Fabian Schiller, Luca Stolz, and Jules Gounon.

A particularly emotional moment unfolded in the afternoon, as Andrea Bertolini, one of the most decorated GT drivers in history, held his final press conference. With a career that includes 10 national and international titles, 309 races, 58 victories, 128 podiums, 26 pole positions, and 17 fastest laps, Bertolini announced his retirement from racing. His career began at Monza in 2001, driving a Porsche while already serving as a Ferrari F1 test driver for Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello. Fittingly, he has chosen to end his journey where it began—at Monza, behind the wheel of a Ferrari run by AF Corse.

Earlier in the day, the official pre-race press conference was held, bringing together ten Italian drivers, each representing top teams and manufacturers, and all eager to impress on home soil.

The final day of the event begins tomorrow with the fourth free practice session for the McLaren Trophy Europe at 9:00 AM, followed by Qualifying 2 for the same series at 9:20. From 9:50 to 10:35, the GT World Challenge drivers will take part in three qualifying sessions, one per driver, with the best lap time setting the grid for the afternoon’s main race.

At 11:20, the second Lamborghini Super Trofeo race will take place, with a 50-minute rolling start format. At 12:15, a selection of GT World Challenge drivers will greet fans in the Fanzone Meet & Greet session. That will be followed by the second McLaren Trophy Europe race, starting at 12:40 with a standing start and running for 45 minutes.

Ahead of the three-hour main event, which gets underway at 3:00 PM, the Alpine Fanfare “Angelo Masciadri di Asso” will perform the Italian National Anthem live on track.

Entry for Sunday is €25. Children up to 6 years old enter free, while tickets for those aged 7 to 11 are priced at €1.
