FORMULA REGIONAL AT MONZA FROM SEPTEMBER 24 TO 26, 2027
The Autodromo Nazionale Monza will host the Formula Regional European Championship (FREC) in 2027 as part of the ACI Racing Weekend scheduled for September 24–26. The FIA World Motor Sport Council has approved the calendar, which will expand to ten rounds with the addition of Barcelona, Portimão and Silverstone. In addition, the Regional will be one of the support series at next season’s Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix.
Monza will be the second Italian round, following Imola, which will host the championship on September 10–12.
Supported by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the Regional is organised and promoted by the Automobile Club d’Italia (ACI), in its capacity as Italy’s national sporting federation. It is an intermediate category between Formula 3 and Formula 2. Drivers who have competed in this championship include current F1 World Championship leader Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes-AMG Petronas), Gabriel Bortoleto (Audi Revolut), Franco Colapinto (BWT Alpine) and Isack Hadjar (Oracle Red Bull Racing).
“The FIA Formula Regional European Championship plays an important role in developing the next generation of single-seater talent,” said ACI Sport General Manager Mario Isola. “Working closely with the FIA, ACI Sport is committed to giving drivers and teams a strong sporting platform as the championship grows to ten rounds in 2027. We are also proud that Imola and Monza, two circuits with a special place in Italian motorsport, will host the championship as part of the ACI Racing Weekends”.
