VOLUNTEERS&OFFICIALS MONTH: OFFICIALS AWARD CEREMONY IN MONZA AS WELL
Autodromo Nazionale Monza is one of the three venues chosen by ACI Sport for the awarding of race officials as part of the campaign initiated by the FIA, the International Automobile Federation, which has elected October as Volunteers& Officials Month.
The initiative was taken to pay tribute to the commitment and passion of the people who, every year, make it possible for motorsport events to take place around the world.
Automobile Club d’Italia -National Motorsport Federation- is enthusiastically joining the initiative through ACI Sport, celebrating the fundamental contribution of race officials working in every corner of the country.
From international competitions to national and regional championships, thousands of people play key roles – such as those of race directors, course marshals, sports marshals, technical marshals, health service, and firefighters – that are essential to the success of track and road events and to the safety of participants and spectators. Their expertise and dedication are an irreplaceable resource for the entire sports movement.
To reinforce this message, ACI has decided to award race officials who have distinguished themselves by their spirit of service, making a particularly significant contribution in terms of commitment. The awards will be presented during a number of major events on the national calendar taking place in October, including the FIA World Karting Championship scheduled at Franciacorta (BS) Oct. 9-12, the 72nd Rallye Sanremo, valid for the European and Sparco Italian Rally Championships (Oct. 17-19), and theACI Racing Weekend at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza scheduled Oct. 24-26.
Mohammed Ben Sulayem, President of the FIA, said:
“Volunteers are the lifeblood of our sport. Their passion, dedication and commitment are truly inspiring and enable motorsport events to take place all over the world, bringing joy and entertainment to millions of fans. By declaring October Volunteer Month, FIA expresses its sincere appreciation and commitment to all our volunteers. I invite anyone interested in volunteering at a motorsports event to get involved and discover how rewarding it is to play such a significant role in the races and events we all love to watch.”
Tullio Del Sette, Extraordinary Commissioner of the Automobile Club of Italy, pointed out:
“This initiative is an important moment to highlight the crucial role of race officials. Without their professionalism, commitment and passion, racing could not take place. They are the ones who ensure safety, organization and proper conduct of every race. It is therefore a duty and a privilege for ACI to recognize their value and publicly thank them.”
For John Baptist Tombolato, ACI Sub Commissioner: “Race officials contribute to the perfect success of races in Italy and around the world and perfectly embody the concept of sportsmanship. To pay tribute to them is to embrace the highest values of sportsmanship and inclusion.”
“Officials – confirmed ACI president-elect Geronimo La Russa – are the highest expression of that love of sport and helpfulness to others that are among the founding values of all Automobile Club of Italy activity. Recognizing the efforts and sacrifices of these people is therefore an honor, as well as a joy, for all of us who are part of the ACI family.”
Throughout the month, ACI Sport will also promote awareness-raising moments and informational initiatives to bring new people into sports volunteering, with the aim of training and welcoming new people into key roles in the organization of competitions.
