THE XVI HISTORICAL COMMEMORATION OF THE MILAN-SANREMO CUP STARTED FROM MONZA
The Coppa Milano-Sanremo Historical Reenactment is back, with about ninety vintage cars that, from today, Thursday, April 10, to Sunday, April 13, will compete along more than 1,000 kilometers, keeping alive the passion and spirit of the gentlemen drivers who conceived it in 1906.
The day's program opened with the much-anticipated return to the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, where the usual technical and sporting scrutineering and free laps on the track were held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., preceding the official start of the race with the first and demanding regularity trials, which got underway at 3:30 p.m.
A special moment was the debut of Marline Collectionbio-fuel at the Coppa Milano-Sanremo: to win the "Precision Driver" award, each participating crew received 10 liters of Marline Collection fuel by measuring their ability to complete two consecutive timed laps of the Autodromo track, trying to replicate to the tenth of a second their previous lap.
After finishing the specials at the Autodromo, the cars of the XVI Rievocazione headed for the first time to Lake Iseo, where anexclusive visit to the Riva di Sarnico shipyard, exceptionally open for the occasion, was planned.
The competition features some of the most prestigious names in historic motoring, including Mario Passanante and Alessandro Molgora, who challenge the course in a refined 1937 Lancia Aprilia, as well as Francesco and Giuseppe Di Pietra in a 1938 Fiat 508C. Andrea Zagato and Marella Rivolta are at the wheel of a stunning 1972 Lancia Fulvia Zagato Sport, adding a touch of authenticity and passion directly from the historic Zagato family.
There is no shortage of Andrea Vesco and Fabio Salvinelli, former winners of numerous regularity races, who will compete in a 1935 Fiat 508S. Making the Re-enactment even more exclusive is the presence of the prestigious 1928 Bugatti Type 40 Grand Sport and a rare 1927 Bugatti Type 37A , examples that embody the very essence of timeless elegance.
Tomorrow, Friday 11, the first race 2025 of the new ACI Historic Racing Weekend championship kicks off instead with free practice from 1:15 p.m. and qualifying at Berghe von Trips: Saturday and Sunday qualifying and racing with 200 cars divided into 6 categories (4 historic and 2 modern) starting at 8:30 a.m. Free admission. THE SOUND OF FORMULA 1 IN MONZA LAST WEEKEND
Autodromo Nazionale Monza last weekend hosted a two-day test session featuring the BWT Alpine Formula One Team's 2023 single-seater: stepping into the cockpit were Estonian Paul Aron, 21, a former Formula 3 and Formula 2 star, who raced on Saturday, and Argentine Franco Colapinto, 21, who has already run nine F1 races with Williams. Both are reserve drivers for the team.
The Anglo-French team enjoyed excellent weather conditions during the two-day test session. Several fans followed the tests, "attracted" by the exciting sound of the Formula 1s.
The World Championship will stop in Monza from Sept. 5-7 with the 96th edition of the Formula 1 Pirelli Italian Grand Prix.
MONZA CELEBRATES THE 60TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE TROFEO CADETTI DURING ACI HISTORIC RACING WEEKEND
Thursday evening, May 10, 1965: the history of the Formula 875 Monza officially begins, the small training formula wanted by Luigi Bertett, president of the Automobile Club Milano, and Romolo Tavoni, sports director of the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, who was also Enzo Ferrari's personal secretary and sports director of the Cavallino.
To celebrate the sixty years since this event, during the ACI Historic Racing Weekend (April 11-13), the Autodromo Nazionale Monza will host, in collaboration with the Scuderia Salvati of Milan, an exhibition at the former museum area, where several single-seaters that competed in the Trofeo Cadetti will be displayed. Trofeo Cadetti Formula Monza 1965/2025 – Factory of Champions
The Trofeo Cadetti began in 1965 with the Formula 875, continuing from 1982 with Formula Panda, then Formula Fire, and Formula Junior Monza until the early 2000s. The Formula 875 Monza was named so because it originally cost only 875,000 lire. The engine was a two-cylinder unit mounted on the Fiat 500 Giardiniera. In 1983, the new Formula Panda was introduced, equipped with the four-cylinder engine from the small city car. Later, in 1988, the 903 cc engine was replaced by the more modern Fiat FIRE 1,000 cc engine.
Drivers such as Arnaldo Bernacchini, Lella Lombardi, Piercarlo Ghinzani, Alberto Colombo, Giovanni Salvati, Giorgio Francia, Luciano Pavesi, Michele Alboreto, Franco Fraquelli, Artico “Tato” Sandonà, Guido Forti, Paolo Guerci, Massimo Pollini, Lucio Vergani, Max Papis, Fabrizio Barbazza, and Giovanni Lavaggi all raced with the vehicles from the Trofeo Cadetti.
FERRARI CHALLENGE TROPHY PIRELLI EUROPE WITH 7 THOUSAND SPECTATORS
The Autodromo Nazionale Monza season began in the sign of red, the color of passion, the color that has always gone with Ferrari. The track's 5,973 meters have seen some of the most iconic single-seaters that have competed in the Formula 1 World Championship run over the past ten days, the Modified 499Ps, or Prototypes that are close relatives from the cars that got off to a great start in the WEC, seizing a hat trick in the inaugural Qatar race. Then from Thursday, March 27 to Sunday, March 30, it was the turn of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Europe. The inaugural leg of the Maranello-based company's one-make series saw the participation of 72 drivers representing 22 countries and 30 dealers, who divided their time between the three scheduled competitions: Coppa Shell AM, Trofeo Pirelli&Pirelli AM and Coppa Shell.
Around 7,000 fans came to admire the 296 Challenge on Saturday and Sunday, and many on Sunday reached the central grandstand, where, waiting for them, were little red flags with the unmistakable Prancing Horse that were flown before the start of Race 2 of the Shell AM Cup. Also much appreciated were the Fanzone with DJ Regaz, food trucks and games for the little ones. The three Sunday races were won by Germany's Boris Gideon (Coppa Shell AM) from Autohaus Ulrich, the U.S. Dylan Medler (Trofeo Pirelli) from The Collection, the Netherlands' Michael Verhagen (Trofeo Pirelli AM) from Ferrari Warszawa, and Sweden's Christian Kinch (Coppa Shell) from Formula Racing.
"We experienced a very intense weekend," was the comment of Autodromo Nazionale Monza president Giuseppe Redaelli, "with the presence of as many as 72 drivers and a large representation of foreigners. To have hosted Ferrari in this start of the season and for so many days was a source of great pride.
We are also pleased with the good turnout of the public." The red festival does not stop here: on Monday 31 track reserved for the Cavallino's Club Challenge with Private Practice.

After taking pole position, the Italian Formula Racing driver maintained the lead, gradually increasing his advantage until the finish line. Uncertain until the last lap was the challenge for the other steps of the podium with Rey Acosta (The Collection), author of a consistent performance, taking second place, while third was Eric Cheung (Formula Racing), champion of the Shell Am Cup World Finals, after the penalty suffered by Zois Skrimpias (Ineco - Reparto Corse RAM) for track limit. The Canadian also recorded the best lap time of 1'45"630.
Success in the Shell Am Cup for the day's poleman "Boris Gideon," adept at containing to the finish line the comeback attempts of Henrik Kamstrup (Formula Racing), second, and Shintaru Akatsu (Ineco - Reparto Corse RAM), third. Fast class lap for Guy Fawe (Scuderia FMA), fifth at the end behind Norikazu Shibata (Cornes Osaka).
