FORMULA 1 PIRELLI GRAN PREMIO D’ITALIA 2025: MONZA, THE CAPITAL OF FORMULA 1
For one day, Monza transformed into the capital of the Formula 1 World Championship. All 24 race organizers from the 2025 season calendar gathered today, Friday, September 5, 2025, at the Autodromo Nazionale for a summit organized by Formula 1. Hosting the event, alongside Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, were the Extraordinary Commissioner of the Automobile Club d’Italia (ACI), Tullio Del Sette, ACI Deputy Commissioner Giovanni Battista Tombolato, newly elected ACI President Geronimo La Russa, and President of the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, Giuseppe Redaelli.
During the day, General Del Sette and President Redaelli met with the management of BrianzAcque, one of the partners of the Autodromo Nazionale Monza. Commissioner Del Sette, President Redaelli, The Deputy Mayor of Monza, Egidio Longoni, BrianzAcque President and CEO Enrico Boerci, along with the entire Board of Directors, posed for a photo in front of the water distribution point in the paddock. Del Sette and Redaelli also met with Nico Acampora and the young team from PizzAut, who have been serving pizzas inside the paddock in recent days.
Commissioner Del Sette also attended an event at the FIA Motorhome, where it was announced that, with ACI’s collaboration, Lux Vide became the first audiovisual production company to receive a three-star rating in the FIA Road Safety Index.
The first day of F1 free practice saw a one-two finish for Scuderia Ferrari HP in the opening session, with Lewis Hamilton (1:20.117) ahead of Charles Leclerc (169 thousandths of a second behind). Third was Carlos Sainz (Atlassian Williams Racing) with a time of 1:20.650. Andrea Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes AMG Petronas), in his first Italian Grand Prix, finished with the fifth-fastest time. In the second session, the fastest lap was set by Britain’s Lando Norris (McLaren F1 Team) with a time of 1:19.878. Leclerc came second, just +0.083 behind. Sainz was again third, followed by Oscar Piastri in the second McLaren and then Hamilton. Antonelli finished only 19th after going off into the gravel.
Free Practice 3 will take place tomorrow, Saturday, September 6, at 12:30, ahead of the decisive qualifying session at 16:00.
In Formula 2, pole position went to Britain’s Luke Browning (Hitech TGR). Among the Italians: Leonardo Fornaroli (Invicta Racing) was ninth and Gabriele Minì (Prema) fifteenth. In F3, Brando Badoer (Prema) posted the seventh-fastest time in Group A.
In the Fanzone, in addition to various activities including Freestyler shows, drivers from Williams, McLaren, Sauber, and Aston Martin took turns meeting fans.
Tomorrow, the Fanzone will be open from 9:00 to 19:00. Among those expected on stage: four-time world champion Max Verstappen (10:10), Ferrari drivers Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc (10:50), and Kimi Andrea Antonelli (11:00). Don’t miss the booth dedicated to the young Bolognese driver. Finally, at 18:00, a DJ set with Benny Benassi will close out the evening.
