Giuseppe Redaelli appointed President of the International Historic Commission

Giuseppe Redaelli (President of AC Varese and Autodromo Nazionale Monza SIAS SpA) e Monica Mailander (President of the Gino Macaluso Foundation) have been appointed, respectively, President of the “CHI” (International Historic Commission), the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile) World Commission that deals with Historic Cars, and a member of the FIA Senate. .

Two prestigious personalities, whose appointments at the top of the FIA underline, once again, the international importance of the Automobile Club of Italy in the field of historic motorsport, since 1934, when ACI was one of the founding members and supporters of the Museum of the Turin Auto.

CHI: the International Historical Commission

Made up of 30 members, representing all the historic clubs affiliated with the FIA, the International Historical Commission promotes the conservation and enjoyment of historic vehicles, the oldest examples of which are important witnesses to both the second industrial revolution and the economic boom.

CHI – which works in close collaboration with FIVA (Fédération Internationale de Véhicules Anciens) – studies legislation and issues relating to historic vehicles, interacting globally with national clubs, to ensure that legislators support legislation compatible with maintenance and responsible use of historic vehicles. Particular attention is paid to registration, taxation, maintenance, road safety, pollution and low-emission zones, as well as the role of historic cars in the collective cultural heritage.

The Senate of the FIA

As the highest body of the FIA, the Senate – made up of 16 members – debates those matters relating to FIA management and general policy that cannot be covered by one of the World Councils. Its main responsibilities are, therefore, financial.

Under the advice of the Monitoring Committee, the Senate closes the accounts, prepares the budgets of the World Council and manages the consolidated financial statements. Within this mandate, it is also responsible for commercial matters which may come to the attention of the FIA.
