MONZA MOURNS ALEX ZANARDI, A CHAMPION OF RESILIENCE
The Autodromo Nazionale Monza joins in mourning the passing of Alex Zanardi.
The driver from Bologna also tied his name to the Temple of Speed, where he competed in two editions of the Italian Grand Prix: in 1994 at the wheel of a Lotus powered by Honda, and in 1999 with Williams-Renault. His presence at Monza, however, was not limited to Formula One: Zanardi was also a protagonist in other categories, from Formula 3 at the GP Lotteria, to Superturismo, and the Monza Rally Show, always leaving his mark through talent and determination.
Zanardi represented an extraordinary example of resilience and strength of spirit. His ability to face and overcome adversity made him a universal symbol of rebirth and courage, capable of inspiring entire generations far beyond the world of motorsport.
The memory of his smile, his energy, and his humanity will remain indelible.
“We lose a champion of sport, but above all an example of resilience, capable of fighting against every difficulty,” said the President of the Automobile Club d’Italia, Geronimo La Russa. “Zanardi was an icon of passion for engines and sport, lived with perseverance and dedication, beyond every physical and personal limit. We will dedicate a moment of reflection to him over the weekend in every motor race, and in the future there will be special occasions to renew the memory and tribute to Alex.”
“A champion and a sporting role model. A man who taught that in life you must always move forward, with optimism and without fear.”
So said Pietro Meda, President of the Automobile Club of Milan.
To his family and friends go the deepest condolences from the Temple of Speed.
