PORSCHE CLUB SUISSE: A MINUTE OF SILENCE FOR ALEX ZANARDI
The Autodromo Nazionale Monza hosted the Porsche Club Suisse weekend, which concluded on Saturday, May 2, under ideal weather conditions. The 2-Hour Endurance race, the final event of the program, saw Swiss driver Simon Mathy (Widberg Motorsport – 992 GT3 Cup) take victory in Category 1, while in Category 21 the win went to the Swiss duo Gelf-Fittje (Seebach Motorsport – 992 GT3 Cup).
Also on Saturday, before the start of the Open GT race—the one with the largest grid—a minute of silence was observed in memory of Alex Zanardi, an iconic figure in Italian and international motorsport, who competed several times at the “Temple of Speed” and passed away on May 1.
In the other competitions, British driver Jack Sherwood (992 GT3 Cup, Sportec Racing) claimed victory in Race 1 of the GT3 CUP / GT4 RS CS. Race 2 was won by Austrian Felix Neuhofer (992 GT3 Cup, Team Neuhofer Rennsport).
As for the Open GT, Race 1 was won by Portugal’s Marcus Graichen (992 GT3 Cup, Track Experience by Manthey), while Race 2 saw German driver Nico Gründel (992 GT3 Cup, Track Experience by Manthey) take the top spot.
The next Porsche Club Suisse event at Monza is now scheduled for 2027, promising another weekend dedicated to passion and on-track competition.
