There are only a few days left until the second weekend dedicated to endurance races at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza. After archiving the weekend of the European Le Mans Series, the Temple of Speed is preparing to welcome the World Endurance Championship teams who will race the 6 Hours of Monza on Sunday 10 July.

The Italian stage of the World Endurance Championship comes one month after the 24 Hours of Le Mans where Toyota scored a double on the podium with the crews formed by Buemi-Hartley-Hirakawa and Conway-Kobayashi-Lopez. However, the Japanese manufacturer will have to contend with a new and formidable opponent at Monza.

The new and awaited Hypercar Peugeot 9X8 will make its debut in the Italian round of the WEC, joining the two Toyota GR10 – Hybrid, Alpine A480 – Gibson and Glickenhaus 007 LMH already fighting for the title in the premier class.

The fast Monza circuit will therefore be the renowned stage on which fans from all over the world will see the prototype of the House of the Lion in action for the first time, just as it happened exactly fifteen years ago.

The Peugeot 908 HDi Fap, which marked the return of the French brand to endurance racing after the early nineties, made its debut at the 1000 KM of Monza in 2007. The LMP1 coupe powered by a diesel V12 delivered the victory into the hands of the crew of Nicolas Minassian and Marc Gené.

At the WEC 6 Hours of Monza 2022 the new Hypercar Peugeot # 93 driven by Paul Di Resta, Mikkel Jensen and Jean-Eric Vergne and the # 94 of Loic Duval, Gustavo Menezes and James Rossiter will take to the track, after six intense months of testing in track throughout Europe.

Vergne explains: «I love Monza, where I have already raced many times. It is truly the Temple of Speed and I believe it is an ideal track to start our WEC program. We arrive with great humility, with the desire to do well, thanks to all the work done previously ».

Rossiter concludes: «Monza is a circuit that occupies a special place in my career because I was able to drive you in Formula 1. I love its classic track, the pure speed that Monza offers. To be able to start in this extraordinary place with the 9X8 will be, in my opinion, incredible ».

The public will have to expect a fierce competition on the track with the six Hypercars present, along with the 14 LMP2 and 18 LMGTE, for a total of 38 cars in the race. The start of the WEC 6 Hours of Monza is scheduled for Sunday 10 July at noon.

On the same day there will be an autograph session with all the crews, including 11 Italian drivers, in the pitlane which will therefore be open to spectators for an hour starting at 9:20. In this way, it will be possible to approach the pits and admire the prototypes and cars that, a few hours later, will race between the Monza curbs.

Even the paddock , crowded with motorhomes and insiders, will be accessible to the public with the special VIP Paddock ticket to be purchased in combination with the circuit entrance ticket, with which it is possible to go up to all the open grandstands.

However, spectators will not only be entertained by the track activities. In the area behind the Garden stands, the Fan Area will be open from Friday to Sunday. Inside, the WEC village with activities for children and adults, stands with the distribution of gadgets, corners for the purchase of official championship and racetrack clothing and food trucks.

The background music of the Fan Area will be entrusted to Radio 105 with a DJ set on Sunday when the presenter Diletta Leotta will also be present who will meet her fans and offer some lucky ones the opportunity to accompany her on the starting grid.

Before the start, on the straight, the Italian Bagutti Orchestra will also play with eight musicians and three singers who will accompany the preparatory phases before the traffic lights go out with a contemporary high-energy repertoire that will enthuse the stands and, finally, the traditional Mameli Hymn. .

On Friday the entrance to the circuit is free, with the only payment of the internal parking for the car, while on Saturday, qualifying day, and Sunday it will be necessary to buy the entrance ticket , booking it in advance from the website www.monzanet.it or by calling the toll-free number 800-905450.
