FORMULA 1 PIRELLI OF ITALY 2025 PRESENTED IN MONZA: IT WILL BE A RECORD EDITION

Only a few days remain until the engines of the twenty single-seaters that will take part in the Formula 1 Pirelli Grand Prix of Italy 2025, the 16th round of the World Championship, which will be held in the picturesque setting of Autodromo Nazionale Monza. The event was presented this morning at the Sala Regione of the legendary Lombard circuit. The ceremony was attended by the President of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana, the Mayor of Monza Paolo Pilotto and the Councillor for Sport of the City of Milan, Martina Riva.

Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, sent a video greeting, while Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Matteo Salvini and Minister for Sport and Youth Policy Andrea Abodi joined in. .

Doing the honors were the Extraordinary Commissioner of Automobile Club d’Italia, General Tullio Del Sette, ACI Sub-Commissioner Giovanni Battista Tombolato, ACI President-elect Geronimo La Russa, still serving as president of AC Milano, and Autodromo Nazionale Monza President Giuseppe Redaelli.

A memorandum of understanding between the Lombardy Region and ACI for future investments was also signed during the event.

Tullio Del Sette (ACI Extraordinary Commissioner)

“The 96th Italian Grand Prix, in the 75th year of the Formula 1 World Championship, promises to be a very successful edition. In the three days of racing, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, in fact, we will break the record set last year. But there will be more than just races: the Monza Grand Prix will be an opportunity to emphasize, in addition to the sporting ones, values such as Italianness, sustainability and solidarity. The “Every driver a tree” initiative this year will be enriched with the planting of a clone of the St. Francis Cypress, a symbol of peace and respect for the environment, as a prelude to the planting, by ACI, the Lombardy Region, the Lambro Valley Park and the Villa Reale Consortium, of thousands of native plants for the reconstruction of the Monza Park woods devastated by a natural disaster in July 2023. In Fanzone there will be, for the first time and throughout the weekend, points dedicated to cardiovascular prevention and blood donation. On the track on Sunday, moments of great emotional impact with the launch of the paratroopers of the Italian Army’s Folgore Brigade who will drop from the sky, carrying the Tricolor and the flags of ACI and the FIA, then the overflight of the Air Force’s Frecce Tricolori Aerobatic Patrol and the Carabinieri Music Band that will play the National Anthem sung by tenor Vittorio Grigolo. Monza is motorsport, but it is also culture. The Autodrome re-proposes itself as a venue not only for competitions but also as a historical heritage to be enhanced: it is ACI’s commitment to involve all central, regional and local institutions in the restoration of the High-Speed Ring, a cultural asset, now dilapidated. Recall that the first Grand Prix in Italy was held in 1921 in Montichiari and since then Monza has hosted 89 editions: this makes it the most attractive motorsport event in our country. This is a source of pride and commitment for the Automobile Club of Italy, which, as the National Motorsport Federation, is called upon to organize it.”

John Baptist Tombolato (ACI Sub Commissioner)

“Autodromo Nazionale Monza is a sacred place for motorsport. The record attendance of the public is a demonstration of the passion that revolves around this event. This season we have seen McLarens dominate, but as an Italian I hope that, like a year ago, Ferrari will be able to accomplish a feat. The drivers capable of doing so it has them: Charles Leclerc, who won on his debut in red in 2019 and repeated precisely last year, and Lewis Hamilton: the Englishman got a penalty in Holland to serve on the grid but let’s not forget that, thanks to five triumphs, he shares the record of successes on this track with a Ferrari world legend like Michael Schumacher. We also hope for a great weekend from the driver who brought the tricolor back to the track, Andrea Kimi Antonelli, in whose growth ACI has invested a lot, through its sports facilities, and we are really proud of that.”

Geronimo La Russa (ACI president-elect)

“The Temple of Speed represents the essence of Motorsport: history, boldness and innovation, combined with the overwhelming passion of the public, turn each race into a one-of-a-kind event. The 2025 Italian Grand Prix will not only be a sporting event, but a true celebration of our motorsport identity. It falls, in fact, in a year of anniversaries that speak to the hearts of fans and remind the world of Italian supremacy: the Scuderia Ferrari will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Niki Lauda’s world title, won precisely at Monza in 1975 with the legendary 312T, and on September 6 Alfa Romeo celebrates a century of success, since on this circuit, in 1925 it won the first of its five World Championships with Gastone Brilli-Peri at the wheel of the Alfa Romeo P2. Anniversaries that, combined with the 75th of Formula 1, represent a bridge between the past and the future, anniversaries that celebrate the legacy of history that each year is enriched by new feats on the Brianza track. Monza is the most beautiful circuit in the world not only because it hosts speed: it is so because it holds the dreams and feats that have made motorsport immortal.”

Stefano Domenicali (President Formula 1)

“The Autodromo Nazionale di Monza is much more than a circuit, it is a symbol of the passion and tradition that binds Formula 1 to Italy. Since 1950, the year of the first F1 World Championship, the Italian Grand Prix at Monza has been an almost constant presence on our calendar. I would like to thank the Automobile Club of Italy, the Italian Government and the Lombardy Region for their support and cooperation, thanks to which this iconic event continues to grow and renew itself. Above all, I want to thank the Italian fans for their inexhaustible enthusiasm that, year after year, makes this race unique. I look forward to experiencing together with hundreds of thousands of fans another extraordinary Grand Prix this weekend.”

Attilio Fontana (Lombardy Region President)

“The Monza Formula 1 GP, edition number 96, confirms that this now ultra-centennial racetrack is the Temple of Speed par excellence. The works to upgrade and improve the track and facilities, to which Regione Lombardia has also made a concrete contribution, are works for all to see. Of course, the knot of the concession between Consorzio Villa Reale and ACI remains to be solved, because by the end of 2026 the Automobile Club will have to confirm to the organizers the possibility of holding the Grand Prix even after 2028. I am convinced that a suitable solution will be found, reached with the team spirit between different institutions, united by the iron will to keep an event of international caliber in Monza. I emphasize two other aspects that fill us with Lombard pride: tickets for the race on Sunday, September 7, are already sold out, an excellent result. The other is the mobility plan prepared for the Monza Grand Prix that has become a case study for the Madrid municipal police, which will make its debut on the World Championship calendar from 2026. This is also an excellent result.”

Paolo Pilotto (Mayor of Monza and President of the Villa Reale and Park Consortium)

“The organization of the Italian Grand Prix, which every year proves to be more and more attractive, is the result of a team effort between institutions, which lasts a whole year, from Grand Prix to Grand Prix, and requires continuous adjustments, in order to improve more and more the quality of the sporting event and the reception in the city. 10,000 extraordinary parking spaces, special trains and shuttles, inter-force coordination for flow management join the entertainment, culture and sightseeing proposals promoted during the event, for an even more engaging experience to be offered to visitors from more than 60 nations. Attention to the development and continuous improvement of the Autodrome is combined with the charm of a 700-hectare Park that hosts the circuit: with this in mind, an important reforestation work is being planned by the Lombardy Region to remedy the loss of trees due to the 2023 cloudbursts, again within the area designated for the Autodrome.”

Martina Riva (Councillor for Sport, Tourism and Youth Policies of the City of Milan)

“The Italian Grand Prix is much more than a race: it is an event that each year ignites the passion of hundreds of thousands of people and brings Milan and Monza to the center of the international scene. Confirmation in the world calendar until 2031 is a recognition of the history and organizational capacity of the Autodromo, but also of the strength of an area that knows how to host major events with professionalism and vision. For Milan, the Grand Prix means tourism, economy, global visibility: a heritage that grows edition after edition and that testifies how sport is a strategic lever for the development of the city.”

Giuseppe Redaelli (President Autodromo Nazionale Monza)

“The record numbers for the Formula 1 Pirelli Italian Grand Prix 2025 testify not only to the growing popularity of Formula 1, but also to the enormous affection surrounding Monza. To better welcome the public, we have invested significantly in improving services and infrastructure: more than 4,000 new lawn seating bleachers (more than doubled), a total of 34 grandstands and 36 big screens. Attention to inclusion is a core value: dedicated bleachers and equipped areas for disabled people, free water and sunscreen thanks to the collaboration with BrianzAcque and LILT. With ATS Brianza, uneaten meals will be recovered for redistribution, as happened in 2024 with over 3.5 tons of food donated to 270 families in need. This is complemented by the presence of third-sector entities such as PizzAut and Openhouse, which promote pathways to employment inclusion for young people with disabilities. Finally, the involvement of the local area is also growing through the Fuori GP initiative, which this year sees the active participation of seven neighboring municipalities, testifying to how much this event represents a shared wealth for the entire Brianza area. A great teamwork that combines sport, passion, solidarity and sustainability.”
