Liberati-Nemoto are crowned champions in Monza in the Italian GT Endurance Championship

The Italian-Japanese duo won the race and the overall title by taking advantage of the technical problem of the teammates of the VSR team and direct rivals Hites-Michelotto-Basz. Giacomo Pollini, on the other hand, triumphs in the Italian Sport Prototypes Championship in front of a good audience.

6 championships, 11 races, over 200 drivers on the track and two absolute titles awarded. With these numbers ended the ACI Racing Weekend 2 at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, during which the fate of the Italian GT Endurance Championship and the Italian Sport Prototype Championship were written. Another two-sided weekend, at least in terms of weather, for the Temple of Speed, with a sunny Saturday and a Sunday conditioned by bad weather that slowed down the racing program.

Edoardo Liberati and Yuki Nemoto in Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo won the 2022 Italian Gran Turismo Endurance Championship . The two VSR team drivers, who arrived at the Brianza circuit with only one point of advantage over teammates Benjamin Hites, Mattia Michelotto and Karol Basz, had to sweat until the last minutes both the triumph in the Monza race and the conquest of the title . The race was in fact very tight at least until Basz was forced to park his car on the side of the track due to a mechanical problem, just at the moment when he was closely following the Lambo direct competitor for the title, driven at that moment. by Nemoto. And it was the Japanese driver who was the real MVP of the race, also compensating for Liberati's back problems and recovering all the positions that the Roman driver had lost in the first third of the race (despite starting from pole), when due to physical limits he it was overtaken by several cars. Nemoto was able to recover to the sound of fast laps and finished the race, made exciting also by the repeated safety cars that reunited the group several times, in front of the trio made up of Jacopo Guidetti, Jorge Cabezas and Leonardo Moncini (Nova Race ) on Honda NSX and another Lamborghini Huracan driven by Raul Guzman, Mateo Llarena and Daan Pijl (Imperiale Racing).

The Italian Sport Prototype Championship was also decided in Monza. Giacomo Pollini (ASD Pollini Race) arrived as a great favorite, at least looking at the mere classification, for the 36 points advantage over Davide Uboldi (Uboldi Corse) and respected the predictions. The driver from Brescia did not even have to wait until Sunday to secure the result, thanks to the second place in race-1 and the eighth place of the only competitor for the fight in the general classification. The victory on Saturday went to poleman Matteo Roccadelli (G-Force Racing), good at resisting throughout the race in Pollini, while Alessio Salvaggio ( Bad Wolves). On Sunday we run in the wet and Pollini proves to be a magician even in critical track conditions, recovering in a very short time from seventh to first place and triumphing undisputed over Uboldi, second and Roccadelli, solid third at the finish.

Lodovico Laurini beat all competitors in the first of two races of the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia . Starting from fourth place, the Dinamic Motorsport driver demonstrated his feeling with the very fast track in Brianza and in a few minutes overtook poleman Leonardo Caglioni (Ombra Racing), Benedetto Strignano (Scuderia Villorba Corse) and the leader of the overall classification Gianmarco Quaresmini , also from Ombra Racing. Strignano and Quaresmini were placed behind Laurini, now one step away from the title. In the Sunday appointment Laurini confirmed himself on the podium, finishing third behind Diego Bertonelli (BeDriver) and the South African Keagan Masters (AB Racing), winner of race-2. Not an unforgettable weekend for Jorge Lorenzo (Q8 Hi Perform), who finished both races in the back after a good qualifying on Saturday ended just two tenths from the poleman.

The 44 single-seaters lined up on the starting grid of the Italian F4 Championship also took care of the spectators to enjoy overtaking and duels, including those between teammates. The team Prema Racing was on the shields over the weekend, taking victory in both races of 30 minutes plus one lap between Saturday and Sunday. In fact, in race-1 the Austrian Charlie Wurz triumphed in front of Alexander Dunne and Kacper Sztuka, team mates of US Racing, while in race-2, which was run on Sunday afternoon and also characterized by several doors, Andrea won. Kimi Antonelli, who with these 25 points stretched to first place in the general classification, ahead of Wurz and Martinus Stenshorne (Van Amersfoort Racing). The third race, scheduled for Sunday morning, was instead canceled due to the rain which made the track impracticable for almost two hours.

In race-1 of the Clio Cup Series , a competition of only Renault Clio Cup, the top three finishers seem to be doing a different job than the rest of the grid. David Pouget (GPA Racing), Anthony Jurado (Milan Competition) and Felice Jelmini (PMA Motorsport) take off from the first corners and fight for all 25 minutes plus one lap of the race. In the end, Jelmini wins, while Jurado and Pouget have to settle for second and third place respectively. In race-2, held on Sunday afternoon, Pouget made a brilliant comeback, seeing the checkered flag waving as a first-place winner in front of the two Milan Competition teammates Nicolas Milan and Marc Guillot, practically paired on the finish line, with Milan leading the way. Guillot by a few centimeters.

Paolo Maria Silvestrini is the star of both 25-minute races plus one lap of the MINI Challenge . The leader of the overall standings of the Motorsport team, who arrived on the Brianza track with a 29-point advantage over Ugo Federico Bagnasco (M.Car by AC Racing Technology), starts from pole and sows his rivals both in the dry on Saturday and in the wet on Sunday. , imposing an unsustainable pace for all competitors. In race-1, just Bagnasco closes behind him, more than 5 seconds behind him, while Andrea Palazzo (Fimauto by AC Racing Technology) finishes third. These last two drivers reverse their positions on the podium in the second competition, also staging a fun and extremely correct duel until the last corner.

Motorsport fans won't have to wait long to see another race at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza. Already at the end of October, Saturday 29 and Sunday 30, the Temple of Speed will become the home of the Formula X Italian Series , with the last round of the Formula X Racing Weekend and various series on the track in the prestigious Temple of Speed. Further information on the event is available on the official website formulaxitalianseries.it.

Arengario di Monza, guide to the discovery of the ancient town hall

The Arengario of Monza is one of the symbolic places of the city. Formerly the seat of the town hall, the medieval town hall now hosts important art exhibitions and events. A short guide to learn more about its structure and history.

The Arengario di Monza , located in the heart of the historic center , is one of the symbolic monuments of the city of Brianza and deserves to be included among the tourist points of interest. And its history also deserves to be known, albeit briefly. In fact, the events that over time have transformed and shaped the old town hall of Monza , now home to important exhibitions, tell a lot about the medieval history of Italy.

Plan your visit to Monza by following the right advice on what to see and what to do

A brief history of the Arengario: why it is called that and what it was used for

As in any self-respecting story, however, it is good to start from the beginning, that is, from the construction of the Arengario . According to the most accredited reconstructions (which must be trusted in the absence of certain data), the construction of the famous palace began towards the end of 1200 . A dating that seems to be confirmed also by an inscription above the entrance door, which refers to the year 1293 (expressed in Roman numerals). The then powerful mayor of Monza, Pietro Visconti , wanted the birth of the Arengario. But why did he build it? What was the Arengario used for? The triggering reason was the contrast between the power of the podestà and that of the church . Until the 13th century, in fact, the magistrates and the podestà used the curtain of the Cathedral for their activities, as they did not have a civil building that could house them. In 1250, however, the mayor was struck by excommunication and his stay near the main religious building in Monza became unwelcome. A confirmation of this struggle between civil power and religious power also comes from the place where the Arengario is located, a few steps from the Duomo, which it is also physically opposed to. At this point, however, it is legitimate to ask why the name of Arengario was chosen for the new town hall . What does this term mean? It is a word borrowed from the German, which means “ meeting place ”, to signal the fundamental function carried out by the building, seat of the municipality, the court and the merchants.

If you like cycling, visit Monza by bike

Structure and characteristics of the Palazzo Comunale of Monza

From the point of view of the structure and style, the Arengario is clearly inspired by the Palazzo della Ragione in Milan , built in the first half of the 1200s. The overall layout is longitudinal, with an open porch on the lower floor and a large covered room on the upper floor. Unlike the Milanese building, however, the town hall of Monza is flanked by an imposing bell tower . Furthermore, it should be noted that the current appearance of the Arengario does not correspond to its original state. In fact, between the end of the 1800s and the beginning of the 1900s, major renovations were planned and carried out, with a consequent reduction in the spaces of the complex, which previously also included the Palazzo Pretorio (demolished). A second massive restoration took place at the end of the 1960s, with the aim of supporting the exhibition vocation of the Arengario.

The exhibitions of the Arengario

Not surprisingly, today the ancient municipal building in Brianza is home to very important art exhibitions and events organized by the municipal administration. The permanent collections that it previously housed, on the other hand, have been transferred to the Civic Museums. To find out about the exhibitions in the Arengario in real time, you can consult the website of the Municipality of Monza .

Visit the Arengario: contacts, where it is, how to reach it

As anticipated, the Arengario is located in the historic center, precisely in Piazza Roma . It is therefore easily reachable on foot from any of the other tourist sites ( Monza Cathedral and its Museum , Villa Reale , Monza Park ). The structure is open to the public every day, except Mondays, from 10am to 1pm and from 2pm to 7pm . For information, please call 039 329541 .

Also for this series, Monza will be the last round on the calendar, therefore decisive to decree the triumph of 2022. Giacomo Pollini (ASD Giacomo Race) is called to administer a conspicuous advantage of 36 points over the only pursuer who can undermine him, Davide Uboldi. All the drivers on the starting grid will drive Wolf GB 08 Thunder.

The great awaited among the drivers of the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia is Jorge Lorenzo, former multiple world champion in MotoGP, who has already attended Monza for the collective tests on 13 April and who will return to the Brianza asphalt to compete. The Spaniard will be involved with the Q8 Hi-Perform Team, together with the other riders in the series, in two races of 28 minutes plus one lap, the first at 16:10 on Saturday and the second at noon on Sunday. In this championship, Monza will not determine the outcome of the entire season, which will close its doors at Mugello on 22-23 October, but at the moment the absolute first place is firmly in the hands of Gianmarco Quaresmini (Ombra Racing - Centro Porsche Brescia), that with 161 points precedes Giorgio Amati and Alberto Cerqui, paired at 128 and both of Team Ghinzani Arco Motorsport - Porsche Centers Milan.

The Italian F4 Championship , a single brand series of only Tatuus F.4 T421, will bring to the Autodrome, between tests and races, over 40 drivers, who will line up on the starting grid three times to complete 30 minutes plus one lap. The start of race-1 is scheduled for Saturday at 3:10 pm, while race-2 will take place on Sunday at 9:10 am, and race-3, at 5:10 pm, at the end of the weekend racing timetable. On the eve of the penultimate round of the championship, the leader of the overall standings is Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who precedes the closest of his rivals, teammate Rafael Camara of Prema Racing, by 61 lengths.

Finally, the Clio Cup Series (divided between Clio Cup Europe and Clio Cup Italia) and the MINI Challenge will also be protagonists of the ACI Racing Weekend 2. Out of a total of 46 entrants, the parterre of Italian drivers at the start for the two 25-minute races plus a lap of the Clio Cup Series , one on Saturday at 12:30 and the other on Sunday at 13:40, will be packed, with 25 local drivers. Two of these are playing for the overall title of the Clio Cup Italy, with Gabriele Torelli (Faro Racing) who has a 6-point margin over Felice Jelmini (PMA Motorsport). The MINI Challenge also features two 25-minute races plus one lap, with the drivers racing for the first time on Saturday at 2:20 pm and for the second race at 11:05 am on Sunday. The drivers will be divided into three categories: Academy, Evo, and Pro.

The entrance to the racetrack is in fact completely free on Friday 7 October, while only the payment of the parking is foreseen for Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 October, with a cost of 15 euros for cars and 5 euros for motorcycles. From Friday to Sunday it will also be possible to freely access the paddock . The posters, in fact, are inspired by the official Grand Prix posters that have remained in the annals starting from 1922, the year of the birth of the Autodromo Nazionale Monza and passing, for example, from the 1949 edition won by Alberto Ascari to that of 1976. which saw the unforgettable Ronnie Peterson triumph, to get to more recent years such as 2003 in which Michael Schumacher won and 2019 with the triumph of Charles Leclerc.

The limited edition was conceived and re-edited by international artistic collective Automobilist, whose mission is to give new energy through art and technology to motoring stories in collaboration with the most renowned houses in the sector as well as with the Federations and the most important players in the sporting and non-sporting panorama. Among the most important collaborations are F1, WRC, FIA, 24 Heures of Le Mans, Oracle Red Bull Racing, Porsche and the Formula 1 teams of McLaren and Mercedes.

The special collection will be produced in only 100 pieces and will be available on the shop of the official website of the Monzanet.it Circuit at the price of 799 euros.

At the same time, an additional 100 pieces will also be available for each of the 11 posters that can be purchased outside the collection at the price of 69 euros, excluding the posters of 1922 and 2022 at the price of 129 euros.

This initiative is a further piece within the wider activity plan that Autodromo Nazionale Monza conceived in the year of the Centenary: it was in fact September 3, 1922 when, on the impulse of the Automobile Club Milano, world motorsport and motor racing have found their home. The Monza Circuit is not just an asphalt track, but has represented and given voice to the stories of many men and women who, competing as drivers, builders, designers, technicians and mechanics, have fueled the passion for this sport and contributed to progress technology of the automotive sector.
