AUTODROMO NAZIONALE MONZA GETS ISO 20121 CERTIFICATION

Autodromo Nazionale Monza has obtained the prestigious ISO 20121:2024 certification, issued by RINA, for sustainable event management. The international recognition attests to the adoption of high standards to reduce environmental impact, promote inclusiveness and improve organizational efficiency.

To achieve this certification, the Autodrome adopted a management system that integrates the analysis and evaluation of the environmental, social and economic impacts of events; the definition of sustainable goals and performance indicators (KPIs); the involvement of internal and external stakeholders (public, suppliers, community, local authorities); the adoption of concrete measures to reduce consumption, emissions, waste and improve the accessibility and inclusiveness of events; and a continuous improvement plan, supported by internal audits and periodic checks.

An achievement to which are added the significant achievements of the 2025 edition of the Formula 1 Pirelli Italian Grand Prix in sustainability and inclusion.

Separate waste collection reached 62.97%, an increase of 11.85% over 2024. 26 water stations and 120 dispensing points - including 110 dedicated to fans - have been installed, preventing the consumption of more than 480,000 plastic bottles.

In collaboration with LILT (Lega Italiana per la Lotta contro i Tumori), 70,000 doses of SPF 50+ sunscreen were distributed free of charge, while the Food Don ation initiative recovered 1.8 tons of food, donated to 290 families in need.

Great attention was also paid to social issues: the Awabot project involved 36 children with disabilities or serious illnesses, with the support of all 10 F1 teams, President Stefano Domenicali, and champions such as Jacques Villeneuve and Jean Alesi. With Make-A-Wish, 20 tickets were donated to young patients, and 20 children from the Maria Letizia Verga Foundation were featured as Grid Kids.

Economically as well, the GP confirmed its roots in the territory: out of 92 companies involved, nearly 60 percent are based in Lombardy, while more than 92 percent are Italian, testifying to the value of the national supply chain.

RECOVERED 1.8 TONS OF FOOD AT FORMULA 1 PIRELLI GP D'ITALIA 2025: DONATED TO 290 NEEDY FAMILIES

An Italian Grand Prix in Monza that this year recorded a record attendance during the 3-day event: 369,041 fans present at the racetrack.

But the weekend can boast of another great achievement: thanks to the memorandum of understanding between ATS Brianza, Autodromo Nazionale Monza and CSV (Centro di Servizio per il Volontariato) Monza, Lecco and Sondrio for the promotion of food waste reduction, recovery of food surpluses and redistribution to families in need in the area, they were rAccepted more than 1.8 tons of foodstuffs, donated by food operators and meal production centers present at the Autodrome; coordination and collaboration among ATS operators, Food Sector Operators, CSV led to the collection, portioning and distribution of meals and food products to 290 families in need, thanks to the efforts of 100 valiant volunteers and Health Protection Agency workers, who were busy until the Wednesday following the Grand Prix.

Raw materials, semi-finished products and properly stored meals such as fruits and vegetables, ready meals, meat, beverages, and baked goods were delivered by the food operators who joined the project, at the collection centers located at the Autodrome, where operators from the Food Hygiene and Nutrition Structure of ATS Brianza verified that the hygiene and safety requirements of the delivered food were maintained.

"This collaboration is truly a feather in the cap of activities in the field of surplus recovery and the fight against food waste," explains ATS Brianza General Manager Paola Palmieri. "It is a project that is made possible thanks to the commitment and collaboration between entities, associations, and food operators, united in this challenge of social responsibility, environmental sustainability and health promotion. The protocol has been active since 2022 and year after year we have expanded the scope, applying this model not only to the Grand Prix, but to other events at the Autodrome, collecting 28 tons of food in 4 years and helping hundreds of needy families in neighboring municipalities. I would like to emphasize how the awareness-raising activities and waste reduction campaigns we have promoted have resulted in greater attention and better planning on the part of the operators in the sector, allowing a steady decline in the food surplus recovered year after year during the Grand Prix. Finally, I would like to thank the operators of our agency who engaged in this activity for 4 days and all the volunteers who contributed to its success."

"The Italian Grand Prix 2025 represented for Monza not only an extraordinary success in terms of participation, but also a concrete opportunity to demonstrate how a major sporting event can generate a positive impact on the territory, also from a social and environmental point of view," commented Giuseppe Redaelli, president of SIAS Autodromo Nazionale Monza. "Thanks to the memorandum of understanding with ATS Brianza and CSV Monza Lecco Sondrio, and the fundamental contribution of food operators and more than 100 volunteers, we were able to collect more than 1.8 tons of food surplus. This is an extraordinary result that shows how collaboration between institutions, third sector entities and businesses can translate into concrete gestures of solidarity, efficiency and sustainability. This project is a source of great pride for us: the Autodromo Nazionale Monza wants to continue to be not only the Temple of Speed, but also a point of reference for a model of responsible event that is attentive to the welfare of the territory. To all those who made this achievement possible, goes my most sincere thanks."

"So much work, so many rules to follow, so much responsibility to the families in need who are waiting for this great opportunity! The good exists and the 80 volunteers involved who worked tirelessly and impeccably giving hours of their lives are tangible proof of that! We have activated an important Monza network, that of Pane ù&Rose, which I thank from the bottom of my heart for distributing in record time what was collected," emphasizes Filippo Viganò, president of CSV Monza Lecco Sondrio. The good news flowing from this exemplary experience is that there are still many people who give of themselves for free for the public good and for the most fragile. Important to say this indeed to repeat it in a communication system that often generates anguish and a sense of helplessness. So thank you to all the volunteers and all the volunteers of the world!"

GRAND PRIX OF ITALY: THE HEART OF FORMULA 1 BEATS IN MONZA

The fastest three days of the year in Monza closed yesterday: drawing up the balance of the 96th edition of the Italian Grand Prix today in the town hall was Mayor Paolo Pilotto together with Prefect Enrico Roccatagliata, SIAS Autodromo Nazionale Monza President Giuseppe Redaelli and ACI Milano Deputy Vice President Pietro Meda.

According to data provided by SIAS Autodromo Nazionale Monza this edition of the Italian Grand Prix recorded a record attendance of At 369,041 attendance over the three days.

Roads and public transportation. The extraordinary mobility plan, now consolidated for major events in the city, prepared in collaboration with "Monza Mobility," worked. The choice of many fans to reach the circuit by public transport was confirmed thanks to the shuttle system, and in particular the Black Shuttle, which connected the Monza Railway Station to the Park: over 62,000 passengers registered in the three-day event.

Users also took advantage of the expansion of shared mobility tools, confirming the popularity of shared scooters and bicycles, which registered 12,183 rentals compared to 10,200 last year.

The nine maxi parking lots (Platinum, Gold, Red, Blue, Orange, Brown, Purple, White and Green), managed by Monza Mobility accommodated 18,500 vehicles over the three days (more than 11,800 on Sunday alone), as well as 290 buses.

Trenord. Over the GP weekend, Trenord ran extraordinary trains between Milan and Monza and between Milan and Biassono, in addition to the ordinary service, and upgraded train compositions.

More than 36 thousand passengers bought special tickets offered by Trenord to reach the Autodrome by train.

TO these are in addition to the several thousand travelers who, between Friday and Sunday, reached Monza station, served on weekdays and holidays by 380 and 300 trains a day, respectively, and Biassono Lesmo station with ordinary tickets and passes.

Operators from Trenord's Assistance and Security teams for the three days of the event carried out manning actions at Monza, Biassono Lesmo and Milan stations to direct the flow of people in getting on and off trains.

Local Police and Civil Defense. A total of 600 Local Police officers were deployed, with an average of 235 operators per day distributed on shifts from 06:00 to 22:00, ensuring more than 7,000 hours of service on September 5, 6 and 7.
Of these, about 300 operators were fielded by the Monza Local Police Command, which made the most significant contribution.

20 penalties were imposed by the Consumer and Business Protection Unit, amounting to about 9,260 euros, with the administrative seizure and confiscation of about 250 bottles of water and beer sold without authorization.

On Sunday afternoon, the outflow of spectators began at 4:15 p.m. and proceeded smoothly; by 7:15 p.m. traffic was back to normal, and the exit of fans from the city was completed without any particular critical issues.

The Civil Defense 's planned emergency plan for the city of Monza involved 295 volunteers for 1730 hours of service. The Plan, on the back of 2024, was drafted in an integrated manner with the municipalities of Vedano al Lambro, Biassono, Villasanta and Lissone, thus also integrating this service with that of the Local Police, a long coordination effort that began in May.

Once again this year, a special localized weather forecasting service provided by the Regional Natural Hazards Monitoring Functional Center was activated for the occasion, which saw the issuance of 4 specific weather bulletins (from Thursday 4/09) localized for the Monza area. This service was complemented by the nowcasting systems for forecasting short-term exceptional weather phenomena of the Civil Protection Service of the City of Monza.

Waste collection. Extraordinary waste collection operations inside the Park and in the city will be completed in the next few hours. According to an initial estimate inside the Park, there are 16 tons of waste produced during the days of the Grand Prix, to which must be added the 82 tons already collected in the Autodrome area and the same number that will be produced at the end of the cleaning and dismantling operations. In the city there are already 21 tons collected and already delivered to date.

Public water. BrianzAcque has dispensed 78 thousand liters of public water at the various distribution points installed within the Autodrome area, resulting in a saving of about 156 thousand half-liter plastic bottles: these figures register a +53% compared to 2024.

A total of 761 liters of water were tapped at the dispenser installed for visitors to the FuoriGP in St. Paul Square.

#MonzaFuoriGP2024 and tourist reception.. 62,000 people is the estimated total attendance to the four-day event.

The Cambiaghi Square concerts were attended by more than 9,000 spectators, including 3,500 on Friday and 5,500 on Saturday, September 6.

About 28,000 people passed through the street-food area set up at the Boschetti Reali, while the total flow in the other areas of the event was 25,000 people distributed among Trento and Trieste Square, Largo IV Novembre, Roma Square, Carducci Square, Via Vittorio Emanuele, Carrobiolo Square, Colombo Bridge, and Spalto Maddalena.

Five information points set up, which intercepted 11,276 total contacts, with 7032 Italian tourists (62.4%) and 4,244 foreigners or 37.6%, with a significant numerical growth of both Italian and foreign visitors. Among the information points, the FS Station recorded the highest incidence of foreign tourists at 65 percent, while the most frequented were Trento and Trieste Square and Station Front.

During the event weekend, 17 guided tours were organized to discover the city in Italian, English, and French, which were attended by a total of 421 visitors (it was 220 in 2024).

29,000 programs of the event distributed at the Old Town, FS Station, shuttle stops and accesses to the Autodrome. Content posted on social channels gained wide visibility: 9,720,000 views were recorded on Facebook and 2,400,000 on Instagram.

Increased promotional activity for the event was also made possible by €40,000.00 in funding from the Lombardy Region through the"Olympic Hearts" initiative.

The authorities present. Present at the press conference were Questore Filippo Ferri, Carabinieri Commander Rosario Di Gangi, Guardia di Finanza Commander Gerardo Marinelli, Provincial Fire Brigade Command representative Davide Fratantoni, and Local Police Commander Giovanni Dongiovanni.

"The city of Monza has shown that it is able to put into play an adequate organizational machine for an international sporting event that has seen a record influx. The effort of responsibility and professionalism that all the Institutions and Public Bodies have made has made it possible to offer welcome and safety to the many people who have reached the city in these days ," explained Mayor Paolo Pilotto, " and at the same time to allow a serene enjoyment of the city for residents as well.

APPROVED THE MONZA REFORESTATION PLAN

The Management Board of the Consorzio Villa Reale e Parco di Monza, in its meeting on February 21, 2025, approved the Collaboration Agreement with the Automobile Club d’Italia, the Regional Park of the Lambro Valley, and the Lombardy Region for carrying out reforestation, forest reconstruction, and maintenance activities in the northern area of the park, within the perimeter of the Autodrome, where around ten thousand trees collapsed following the storm that hit the Brianza region in July 2023.

The total value of the Agreement amounts to €3,380,000.00, with €2,612,950.82 provided by the Lombardy Region and the remaining amount from ACI through the implementing body.

The project aims to carry out forest reconstruction based on naturalistic criteria, seeking to align the ecosystem with climatic and fertility characteristics and to promote spontaneous forest regeneration processes in the coming years. The work is planned in three phases: design; preparatory works, reforestation, and cultural care interventions lasting 5 years; and a four-year maintenance phase to consolidate and preserve the results obtained with previous works and ensure the final establishment of a new forest. The work will be overseen by a dedicated Technical Scientific Committee composed of representatives from the Lombardy Region, ACI, Consorzio Villa Reale e Parco di Monza, and the Regional Park of the Lambro Valley.

“It’s a medium to long-term project of high complexity, both due to the exceptional landscape, cultural, and naturalistic significance of the affected areas—the damage affected all forest areas within the Autodrome and was particularly severe near Bosco Bello—and due to the financial resources and expertise required. The Collaboration Agreement will allow for the development of the full potential of a joint action, ensuring the historical preservation, repair of the ecosystem, and prevention of potential floral and structural degradation. We are united in our desire to restore and enhance areas that are dear to the people of Monza and represent a heritage of absolute regional and national interest,” says Paolo Pilotto, President of the Consorzio Villa Reale e Parco di Monza.

“We ensured emergency interventions and safety measures between the summer of 2023 and the following winter. The calamity of July 2023 strengthened our willingness to collaborate with the public entities involved in the protection of the forest heritage. In this case, we committed to carrying out actions to fully restore the damaged areas we manage. Our participation in this forest improvement program highlights how the protection and enhancement of green spaces are at the top of our objectives. As a result of this commitment, 8,000 plants were planted over the last year,” says Giuseppe Redaelli, President of Autodromo Nazionale Monza.

“Nature, with the growing violence of weather phenomena, in 2023 accomplished in a day and a half what would normally take humans 20 years or more. With this important funding, we are intervening in a woodland area whose health was already compromised at the time of the calamity and had long been under attention. In just over a year, we are responding and reacting to this devastation, with complex interventions to restore the irreparably damaged woodland sections and actions that lay the foundations for an increasingly virtuous management of the forest heritage of the Parco di Monza. I thank all the parties involved, especially the Lombardy Region and the Agriculture, Food Sovereignty, and Forestry Assessor, Alessandro Beduschi,” says Marco Ciceri, president of the Regional Park of the Lambro Valley.

“This intervention is a fundamental step for the reconstruction of the forest heritage of the Parco di Monza, severely affected by the extreme events of 2023. Thanks to the joint efforts of the institutions involved, we are not only restoring the damaged areas, but we are doing so with a long-term vision, ensuring sustainable forest management that is in harmony with the ecosystem. The Park, which becomes an international showcase for Lombardy during the Grand Prix, will return to being a fully usable green lung, an identity place for citizens, and an example of environmental protection and landscape enhancement,” says Alessandro Beduschi, regional Assessor for Agriculture, Food Sovereignty, and Forests.

RECOVERED AND DONATED 128 KILOS OF FOOD PRODUCTS AT THE MONZA RALLY SHOW

At the 2024 Monza Rally Show, held at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza from December 6 to 8, a total of 128 kg of food products were recovered and donated to various associations and charitable canteens in the Brianza area.

The collection of food products is the result of a memorandum of understanding between ATS Brianza, CSV (Volunteer Service Center of Monza, Lecco, Sondrio), and Autodromo Nazionale Monza, united in pursuing common goals related to health, with a growing focus on high-impact social and environmental aspects.

The coordination of food surplus recovery efforts is becoming increasingly structured and consistent, extending beyond sporting events, such as the Italian Formula 1 Grand Prix, to also include corporate events.

Among the items collected during the rally were ready meals, meat, fish, vegetables, bread, fruit, and much more. The recovered food was distributed to about thirty families in severe economic distress, the charitable canteen run by the Friars of the Madonna delle Grazie, and a shelter center in Monza.

MONZA CIRCUIT RENEWS ITS 3 FIA STARS

The important recognition confirmed for the commitment in the field of environmental sustainability

Confirmed the highest category within the environmental accreditation framework of the International Automobile Federation

The Autodromo Nazionale Monza is once again FIA 3 Stars . After obtaining the highest category in 2022, SIAS's commitment to sustainability has been constant, as also reported in the reasons that guaranteed the renewal of the three FIA stars: " The circuit documentation and the results presented in the Monza Sustainability Plan underline the strong environmental commitment of the Autodromo Nazionale Monza SIAS Spa. The action plans undertaken by the circuit to reduce the environmental impact and optimize the consumption of resources confirm the alignment and compliance of the Autodromo Nazionale Monza with the FIA three-star environmental accreditation standards ". A result that is the fruit of constant attention by SIAS to the issues of environmental and social sustainability, recognized both locally and globally, starting right from the place that hosts the Temple of Speed: the Monza Park . In 2024, over 8,000 new seedlings were planted after the storm that severely tested the park on July 24, 2023. A reforestation process implemented thanks to the collaboration with the Lombardy Region and the command of the Forestry, Environmental and Agri-food Units of the Carabinieri Biodiversity group , which, with the projects "Every Pilot, a Tree" and "Biodiversity Village", are an active part of a process together with the Autodromo Nazionale Monza. An Autodromo that also looks to the environment in energy production, having adopted a "Green" tariff for several years that uses renewable sources and HVO generators powered by biofuels . Education and planning have produced a virtuous circle that, over the last 5 years, has brought the Autodromo Nazionale Monza from 15% of recycled waste to over 51% in 2024, with an increase of 20% compared to last year. Also thanks to concrete initiatives such as free access to drinking water dispensers which, in the Formula 1 Pirelli Gran Premio d'Italia alone, also thanks to the collaboration with BrianzAcque, avoided the use and subsequent disposal of approximately 580,000 plastic bottles . The collaboration with ATS Monza e Brianza and CSV was also renewed, which, with the Food Donation , were able to help over 270 families in difficulty by distributing 3,503 kg of food products. Great satisfaction for the confirmation of the 3 FIA stars by the president of SIAS Autodromo Nazionale Monza, Giuseppe Redaelli: “

SIAS's constant commitment leads us, today, to be able to celebrate this great result and, above all, to think that the path taken in the name of environmental and social sustainability is the right one. A commitment that must never be lacking, but that must be increasingly present and marked by planning and setting objectives that can keep the Autodromo Nazionale Monza among the excellences ".
